Accounting Technician – Vernon

Our client, a well-established small accounting firm in Vernon who has been assisting small to medium sized corporations and sole proprietorships for the past 21 years, is looking to hire a full-time Accounting Technician/Bookkeeper with a minimum of 2 – 5 years recent experience in a public practice environment.

Duties will include:

  • preparing yearends up to financial statements and corporate tax return: Notice To Reader
    • using Caseware, Caseview and Jazzit and (Taxcycle)
  • Reviewing bookkeeping done by office staff and producing interim financial statements for accountant to review (4-weekly, monthly, quarterly):
    • Using Sage 50, Quickbooks, Quickbooks online, Excel, XLGL
  • Some bookkeeping if necessary
    • Using Excel, Sage 50, Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online
  • Preparation of personal and corporate tax returns, T4 and T5 slips
    • Using Taxcycle and Doxcycle in combination with Excel, Sage 50 and Quickbooks
  • Maintaining paperless filing system



  • Post secondary education in Accounting or equivalent
  • Managing team members (overseeing 2 to 4 staff)
    • Reviewing work and giving feedback to staff to improve quality and efficiency
    • Preparing regular office meetings with staff
    • Looking after meeting filing deadlines in all area’s of accounting

  • Tax preparation personal and corporate income tax, preferable proficient in Taxcycle/Doxcycle
  • Preparing yearends using Working paper software, preferable CaseWare (including CaseView & Jazzit)
  • Bookkeeping using Sage 50, experience in Quickbooks is an asset
  • Comfortable using Excel (and Word)
  • Prior exposure to paperless office is an asset
